Each student was assigned an individual piece of the mosaic, which was to be freehand replicated in Illustrator. Without measurements or any reference material aside from the small square, we were asked to re-create the square, while adding our own artistic flare. I personally used the pen tool to create the shape of the islands and the woman's arm, while I used a brush that simulated hair, for her golden locks. Once every students squares were put together, the product was a digital mosaic that expressed the individuality of each student, while uniting into a beautiful replica of the Birth of Venus.
